Miley Cyrus Turns 16 at the American Music Awards
Even among such A-list show stoppers as Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and the Jonas Brothers, Disney star Miley Cyrus has one distinct advantage when she takes the stage at the American Music Awards on Sunday night – she’ll be celebrating her birthday, too.
In fact, a source working on the production tells PEOPLE that Julianne Hough and Taylor Swift are actually planning a Sweet 16 birthday surprise for Cyrus on the show.
Jimmy Kimmel, who will host the AMAs, may also have something up his sleeve for Cyrus. Asked if anyone should worry about being heckled at the show, he mused: “It’s Miley Cyrus’s birthday that night. I think the New Kids on the Block will be there. [But] it’s not like I’m gunning for anyone in particular.”
Kimmel also joked about Cyrus seeming mature for her age. “She seems like an adult to me,” he told PEOPLE. “She seems like she’s 33.”
